- The Weight Drop: Modern variants like the Voile Objective or Panorama M55 use carbon or paulownia wood, making them significantly lighter than their 1990s ancestors while staying stiffer.
- The Rocker Revolution: Modern XCD skis (Annum, S-Bound 98) have "Early Rise" tips. This makes their Downhill Power feel higher than old skis because the tips don't dive in powder as easily.
- The Tracking Trade-off: As skis get wider (UltraVector), the Tracking score drops significantly because the sidecut makes the ski "wander" on flat, hard-packed trails.
